Let's Doula This!
Every woman deserves a doula!
Whether you are planning your birth experience to be
in a hospital, home or birth center, medicated or natural,
having the support you need can make a world of difference.
What is a doula?
A doula is a non-medical, yet essential, member of the birth team who offers
physical, informational, and emotional support
to the birthing family before, during and after childbirth.

Kristin Miller, Doula
I wrote a report in first grade that my dream job was to be a mom and have “a million billion babies.” Thank heaven I didn’t have a million billion, but I am blessed to have 5 children, 4 of which were born prematurely. I love having a big family and all the joy that brings.
I have always loved and worked with children. I have taught thousands of children though my 20 years of nonprofit work in the arts, and have also been an active volunteer at Texas Children’s Hospital for 14 years, teaching hands-on, bedside art. I have a zest for life and a true and deep love and connection to all people.
Although my life is very active and fulfilling, I still felt there was something more I was meant to do. I have always believed that each of my life’s experiences were guiding me to the next step on my journey. When I first discovered the work of doulas, I instantly knew what the next step in my life’s work would be. I quickly enrolled in doula certification through DONA and have never looked back.
I find being a doula, supporting new families during this transitional time in their lives, is a truly my heart's calling. I believe that every woman giving birth deserves to have a doula. Families deserve to have the information, support, and advocacy that a doula provides. With that, I am able to work on a sliding scale for families in need to ensure that all families get the services I believe they need.
-Kristin Miller, birth and postpartum doula and mother of 5 adult children, lives with her sweetheart and husband Clyde. She specializes in high-risk, premature, and multiples, as well as partner training for couples birthing without a doula.
